Senior guard Carla Booth pumped in a women’s school record 45 points to lead the Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles to an 89-74 road conference victory over the Brescia University Bearcats Saturday night.

In the opening half, defense was the name of the game as the visitors put the clamps on their hosts. ALC held the Bearcats to a frigid 12% field goal percentage (4-33), and raced out to a 39-20 lead. Booth had 21 points at intermission including a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe.

In the second half, the Eagles (6-9; 2-2 KIAC) continued to dominate. It seemed to the Bearcats that Alice Lloyd could not miss when they were forced to foul, and for the most part they didn’t. The Eagles capitalized on an incredible 46-51 (90.2%) from the charity stripe, and built their lead to as many as 29 points.  Because of their uncanny marksmanship, they prevented BU from mounting any major comeback. The 46 makes also set a school record for most team free throws made in a single game.

On this night, Booth simply was dominating. She connected on 9-18 field goals (including 5-10 from behind the arc) and an incredible 22-23 from the charity line.  Additionally, she had a team-high 9 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 blocks. Also in double figures was Amber Shepherd, who pumped in 16 points and added 6 rebounds. Bailey O’Bryan chipped in with 9 while Tailor Morgan and Megan Jones each added 8.

For the game, the victorious Eagles shot 38.6% from the field (17-44), but 45% from downtown (9-20). BU shot 29% (22-75) from the field, including 24% from downtown (6-25). They were a respectable 72.7% from the foul line (24-33), but that paled in comparison to the visitors blistering percentage.

Brescia (6-9; 0-2 KIAC) was paced by Julie Whitfill with 19.
