The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles returned to the court on Saturday, December 6th against the Lady Grenadiers of Indiana University Southeast. Alice Lloyd stayed with their KIAC rival for a while but faded down the stretch, losing by the final score of 89-78.

IU Southeast controlled the game early as the visitors took a 14-4 lead within the first five minutes. However, the hosts would respond. IUS would see their lead dwindle to two (27-25) with five minutes to go in the first half. Ultimately, the Lady Grenadiers would take a 38-35 cushion into the locker room.

Alice Lloyd would take its first lead early in the second stanza. The Lady Eagles would go up 41-40 with seventeen minutes left. Unfortunately, the Lady Grenadiers would reply. Not only would IU Southeast regain the edge but would also go on an 11-2 spurt to take a 51-43 lead with fourteen minutes to go. IUS would increase their margin to twelve (62-50) with approximately ten minutes remaining. IU Southeast’s lead would balloon to as much as twenty-one. ALC would make a run in the final minutes to close the gap, but the deficit built proved to be insurmountable for the Lady Eagles.

IU Southeast made 32 baskets on 62 attempts (51 percent) including 6 trifectas on 17 tries (37 percent). The Lady Grenadiers went 19 for 26 (73 percent) from the charity stripe. The Lady Eagles wound up making 29 shots on 68 tries (42 percent) while going 12 for 16 (75 percent) from the free throw line. ALC converted on 44 percent (8 for 18) of their three point field goals. IU Southeast had 37 rebounds to ALC’s 30 while both teams turned the basketball over 13 times.

For Alice Lloyd (4-6, 0-1 KIAC), Carla Booth had 29 points to go along with 4 assists and 4 steals. Megan Jones contributed with 10 points and 4 rebounds.

Heather Wheat paced IU Southeast (7-3, 1-0 KIAC) with 31 points.
