The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles squared off with non-conference opponent Warren Wilson College in Buncombe County, North Carolina. The Lady Eagles were trying to get back on track after a disappointing loss to Pikeville. After the first eight minutes of the contest, both teams were deadlocked at 12-12. With 4:38 to play in the first half, Alice Lloyd held a tight, three-point lead (28-25). It was at that point when the visitors went on an 11-4 run to extend their margin to 39-29 with about a minute and a half to go in the opening stanza. By halftime, the Lady Owls closed the gap some but ALC still held a 39-35 cushion.

Warren Wilson attacked immediately to start the second half as they even the score again at 41-41 just 51 seconds in. Alice Lloyd went on a 7-0 spurt to make it 7-0 with sixteen minutes left in the game. With eight minutes to go, neither team could get an advantage as it was tied at 54. With 3:21 left, ALC held a 67-65 lead. WWC made a three-pointer to make it 72-69 with 49 ticks left. Carla Booth connected on a jumper to tie it at 74. The Lady Owls had the ball with a chance to win and they did just that as Jacina Hall was fouled on a shot attempt to convert on 1 of 2 free throws to give her team the victory. It was a heartbreaking way for ALC to lose.

ALC (3-2) was 40 percent from the field while Warren Wilson shot at 41 percent. Both teams made 5 threes, Alice Lloyd shot 23 from beyond the arc while WWC (2-3) attempted 14 triples. ALC was 17 for 24 from the charity stripe (70 percent) while WWC connected on 22 foul shots on 31 tries (71 percent). Warren Wilson held the slim rebounding advantage, 40-37.

Carla Booth and Serena Nickell led the Lady Eagles with 18 points each. Nickell also recorded 5 rebounds as Amber Shepherd also had double-digits in points (11).

Lilvia Bradbury and Jacina Hall had 16 points apiece for the home team.

In ALC’s second game, the Lady Eagles would meet a familiar nemesis in Hiwassee College. The Lady Eagles won the first matchup between the two teams just two weeks prior. It was a relative close half for the most part. However, the Lady Eagles took a 10-point lead into the locker room (42-32).

It would not be as easy this time around for Alice Lloyd. In the second stanza, the Lady Tigers battled back and rallied to make things interesting. Even though Alice Lloyd was outscored 48-42 by the hosts, Alice Lloyd staved off the Lady Tigers and came away with the win.

ALC (4-2) converted on 45 percent of their shots while Hiwassee shot at 40 percent. Alice Lloyd went 7 for 20 from three (35 percent) and made 76 percent from the free throw line (19 for 25). Hiwassee made 7 threes on 19 tries (36 percent) while making 17 for 30 from the foul line (56 percent). Alice Lloyd won the rebounding battle in decisive fashion, 56-39.

Carla Booth had 29 points and 5 rebounds while Megan Jones scored 12 points. Tailor Morgan produced 11 points while Carla McDaniel flirted with a double-double, 12 rebounds and 8 points.
