The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles hosted the West Virginia Tech Lady Golden Bears on Saturday, November 8th. The Lady Eagles struggled for most of the game but rallied in the waning stages, knocking off the visitors, 91-89.

ALC came into this contest looking for a 3-0 start to the season. The Lady Eagles started slow out of the gate, as WVT had a 17-8 lead with twelve minutes to go in the first half. Alice Lloyd would eventually fall into a deficit as big as sixteen before clawing their way back. Despite being outplayed, the home team trailed West Virginia tech by only two at halftime (41-39).

ALC took their first lead of the game in the second stanza on a three by Carla Booth to make it 46-45 with seventeen minutes remaining. However, WVT would regain the lead and would keep for much of the second half. Still, ALC kept the game extremely close. The hosts tied the game at 89 with 50 seconds left. After getting the stop they needed on defense, the Lady Eagles had the ball with the chance to steal the victory. Booth was fouled on a drive to the basket and made both free throws to give Alice Lloyd the lead. A last second heave by WVT was short and this allowed ALC to prevail.

ALC shot 45 percent from the field (27 for 59) while WVT was 43 percent from the field (32 for 73). The Lady Eagles made 4 three point shots out of 16 attempts (25 percent) while the guests were 2 for 12 (16 percent) and from the charity stripe, Alice Lloyd was 33 for 47 (70 percent). WVU converted on 23 shots out of 33 tries (69 percent). West Virginia Tech edged Alice Lloyd in the battle of the boards, 45-31.

For Alice Lloyd (3-0), Booth had a team-high 21 points while Serena Nickell contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Morgan Chestnut also made the double-digits column in scoring, producing 11 points and corralling 6 boards.

Rocio Ruiz-Berdejo led the Lady Golden Bears (1-3) with 25 points.
