The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles hosted the Kentucky Christian University Lady Nights on Tuesday, November 4th. ALC won their second consecutive matchup, prevailing by the score of 89-73.

The hosts were looking  to build on their victory against Hiwassee this past Saturday, and the team got off to a great start, taking a 9-2 lead within the first five minutes of action. However, with 9:26 to play in the first half, KCU clawed their way back with a 17-9 run and took their first lead of the game (19-18). The lead would change hands for the next few minutes until ALC went up 25-22. Leading 32-29 with a minute and a half remaining in the opening stanza, the Eagles forced three straight turnovers and closed the half on an 8-3 spurt. They held an eight point cushion (40-32) at intermission

In the second half, ALC opened with a quick 5-0 run. For about the next eight minutes, both teams traded buckets as the margin for Alice Lloyd stayed from thirteen to ten. A technical foul on Kentucky Christian gave the hosts momentum, and the Lady Eagles effectively put the game away. The lead ballooned to twenty-four (85-61) before the blue and white settled for the sixteen point victory.

ALC and KCU both shot the basketball at 39 percent from the field, but the Lady Eagles took 30 more shots. ALC went 35 for 87 while the Lady Knights were 23 for 59. Alice Lloyd went 10 for 15 from the charity stripe (66 percent) while the road team made 21 free throws out of 38 attempts (55 percent). ALC outrebounded KCU 49-41 while forcing 22 Lady Knights turnovers.

For the victors (2-0), senior Carla Booth (Warfield, Sheldon Clark) was Alice Lloyd’s leader as she played an excellent all-around game. Booth poured in 30 points as she sank 7-12 on three point bombs. Additionally, she also led the team with 9 rebounds, 6 steals, and 3 assists. Freshman Madison Reed (Salyersville, Magoffin Co.) played well as she produced 11 points and added 5 boards, while sophomore Amber Shepherd (Paintsville, Johnson Central) contributed 10 points and 4 steals. In addition, freshman Sara Robinson corralled 9 rebounds to match Booth and chipped in 4 points.
