The Alice Lloyd College fishing team, the ALC Anglers, have been catching a lot of attention back home. Michael Watts and Caleb Baker, both from Letcher County, Ky., have beaten the odds, slowly rising through the ranks to land tiny Alice Lloyd College in the top 35 schools in the country in collegiate fishing. The two-man team currently sits at #34, ahead of much larger schools like Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, and the University of Florida.
Their success and tenacity have attracted the eye of the local news media. Local CBS-affiliate, WYMT News, in nearby Hazard, Ky., recently paid the team a visit at Carr Fork Lake. Check out the story here as reported by WYMT’s Lauren Cash.
The ALC Anglers have taken their talents to the national stage as they compete this week in the Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship at Pickwick Lake in Florence, Alabama. Results and news from the event can be followed here.
