The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2014 Division II Women’s Basketball All-America Teams naming Alice Lloyd senior forward Ariel Nickell to the prestigious Third-Team. She is the only three-time All-American among the three teams. Nickell, who was also named the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, ranked second in the nation with a 25.6 points per game average. She has ranked among the top five in points per game in each of the last three seasons.
The 2014 NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball All-America Teams were selected by the NAIA-Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-America Committee.
The National Association of the Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) also announced that senior point guard Isaac Wilson was named a 2013-14 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete. The Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognize excellence in the classroom by NAIA-member student-athletes who are juniors or above in academic standing with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.
Wilson, a native of Corbin, Ky., made the list of Scholar-Athletes for the second straight year. He is a Math Education major and holds a 3.94 GPA. Wilson will graduate from Alice Lloyd on May 3, 2014.
