The Alice Lloyd Eagles traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio to face Ohio Mid-Western College on Monday in non-conference play. Here is a recap of the series.
March 17
Game 1
ALC 5 – Ohio Mid-Western 0
Logan Condra pitched a 4-hit shutout to lead ALC to victory in game one. He struck out 6 and walked only 2 batters in a solid performance. At the plate, right fielder Kevin Smith and designated hitter Zack Hancock each rapped 2 hits apiece. Smith crushed the biggest blow, pounding his first home run of the season.
Game 2
ALC 9 – OMW 2
The Eagles exploded for 7 runs in the top of the sixth to break a 2-2 tie and earn the series sweep.
Right fielder Kevin Smith homered for the second straight contest and had 4 RBIs to spark the victory. His buddy, left fielder Shane Pack, joined the homer parade with a blast of his own, and drove in 3 runs to contribute to the cause. First baseman Dustin Williams had two of the visitors’ 6 hits.
Justin Smith took the hill for the second game and tossed 5 innings of three-hit ball. He struck out 5 and allowed just 2 runs. He gave way to Timmy Sublett who tossed one perfect inning to earn the win. Fellow reliever Daniel Burgess tossed the last inning and struck out 2 batters.
After a scrimmage on the 19th, the Eagles will host IU Southeast in a four-game series. The first doubleheader will be on Friday, March 21st, at 1 PM with the second doubleheader following on Saturday, March 22nd, at noon.
