The Alice Lloyd Eagles traveled to Berea to face the Berea Mountaineers in conference play for a four-game set. Here is a brief game-by-game look at the series.
March 14
Game 1
ALC 7 – BC 25
The hosts pounded out 27 hits in route to the big win. Bobby Caldwell had 3 of the Eagles’ 11 hits and 2 RBIs. Tanner Hensley added two doubles, while Brandon Chaney knocked in 2 runs.
Patrick Barnett suffered the loss on the mound.
Game 2
ALC 8 – BC 16
Alice Lloyd fell behind quickly in dropping game two. The hosts outhit their visitors 16-10. Shane Pack and Jacob Bales each had 3 hits. Bales also drove in 3 runs.
Wayne Sparks took the hill for the second game and suffered the loss. He whiffed 5 batters.
March 15
Game 3
ALC 5 – BC 3
In the third game of the four-game set, the coaching staff selected ace Neil Dillon to be the starting pitcher. ALC scored first and vaulted to a 5-0 lead before the Mountaineers scored three runners in their last at-bat. Dillon then settled down to close out the contest. He pitched a masterful 5-hit game, while striking out 6.
Alex Dapkus and Kevin Smith each had 2 hits to lead the way.
Game 4
ALC 6 – BC 17
Alice Lloyd hoped to pull off the sweep, but BC struck first and iced the game with 8 runs in the bottom of the second. They outhit the Eagles 17-11.
Alex White had 3 hits and 2 RBIs, while Zach Hancock contributed two doubles.
Justin Smith suffered the loss on the mound.
The Eagles return to action on March 17th in a doubleheader at Ohio Mid-Western. The games begin at 2 PM.
