BOX SCORE

Eagles Beat IUEThe Alice Lloyd Eagles went to Richmond, Indiana on Sunday, February 9th, to battle the Indiana University-East Red Wolves. Alice Lloyd played an impressive game and came away with a huge victory, 94-86.

ALC lagged behind early as IU East jumped out to a 20-11 lead with twelve and a half minutes to play in the opening half. However, the Eagles would close the gap by going on a 13-3 run; they took their first lead with nine minutes remaining (24-23). The guests rode this momentum to lead at intermission by five points (48-43).

In the last stanza, the question was could Alice Lloyd continue their first half-ending high level of play. ALC led 55-48 with fourteen minutes to go. With seven minutes remaining, the Eagles still held an eight-point lead (71-63), which they looked to maintain. However, IUE refused to go down easy, and with 3:43 to play, they had reduced the deficit to just three at 77-74.

Fortunately, the hosts would not get any closer as Alice Lloyd extended the lead back to eleven points with clutch free throws to effectively salt the game away.

For the Eagles (11-11, 6-6 KIAC), Stuart Stamper played one of the best games of his career. The senior put on a virtuoso performance, scoring 27 points on 6-of-9 shooting while going 12-for-14 from the foul line. Tyler Rogers had a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards while Cody Malicoat contributed 13 points to go with 9 rebounds. Cody Stumbo added 12 points and 8 rebounds.

IU East (10-18, 6-9 KIAC) was led by Jeff Hopper with 25 points.

The Eagles will be back in Pippa Passes on Tuesday, February 11th, for a bout with Asbury at 8 PM.
