The Alice Lloyd Eagles were back on their home court on Saturday, February 1st, as they had the unenviable challenge of facing the second-ranked team in the nation in Indiana University Southeast. The team from Pippa Passes battled hard before succumbing 92-76.

The Eagles looked to get back on track after a disappointing loss at Brescia just a few nights before. ALC got off to a slow start early as Southeast jumped out to a 10-4 lead. With eight minutes to play, the Grenadiers extended their lead to double digits (30-20). IUS ultimately went into the half leading by 13 (43-30).

Southeast led 49-37 just five minutes into the second stanza, and for most of the game, ALC kept it relatively close. Unfortunately, the visitors showed they were worthy of their lofty ranking as they went on a decisive run to extend their margin. They eventually outscored the hosts 49-46 in the second half.

Stuart Stamper played well as he led Alice Lloyd (10-12, 5-5 KIAC) with 29 points. Tyler Rogers generated 11 points and tallied 6 rebounds. Sophomore Cody Malicoat finished with 10 points in 14 minutes of play.

The Grenadiers (16-3, 9-0) were paced by Jake Simpson with 24 points.

The Eagles will return to action on February 6th when they travel to face Cincinnati Christian at 8 PM.
