ALC’s first match-up of the weekend pitted them against nationally ranked (#24) Point Park University. The Lady Eagles had hopes of building momentum off of their most recent victory against Kentucky Christian University. In the first half, both teams got off to tough starts as they only scored 10 points combined within the first four minutes. It remained close throughout the first half until the home team reeled off a 17-9 run to give them a 52-41 halftime advantage.

The Lady Pioneers remained in control throughout the second half, despite ALC’s valiant effort to make a comeback. Alice Lloyd outscored Point Park 43-39 in the second stanza and was able to cut the lead to five; however, their late charge would ultimately prove unsuccessful as PPU sealed the win at the free throw line.

For the Lady Eagles, Amber Shepherd had her best game of the season so far as the forward recorded 23 points and corralled 6 rebounds. Ariel Nickell had 21 points along with 9 rebounds.

Point Park was led by Samantha Weir with 31 points.

ALC had to make a quick recovery, taking to the floor the next day versus Carlow University. It was all ALC in the opening half as the Lady Eagles played brilliantly, particularly on the defensive end. The visitors held the Lady Celtics to 32% shooting in the first stanza and went into intermission with a 43-24 lead.

With such a big lead after one half of play, it was all about preserving that cushion in the second half. Alice Lloyd backed off and coasted. Carlow outscored ALC 41-33, but it would not be enough for the home team.

Ariel Nickell claimed her first double-double in three tries, putting up 24 points to go with 18 rebounds. Courtney Crowder produced 13 points and 7 rebounds while Taylor Arthur had 7 points and a remarkable 22 rebounds.

Carlow’s Jessalyn Timko paced her club with 21 points.

The Lady Eagles will be off this week as they take final exams, but the team will return to action on Saturday, December 14th, at home versus Ohio Christian. The game will tip at 2 PM. They will follow that game in short order as they head out to play UPike on Sunday, December 15th, for a match-up that is also set for 2 PM.
