Channing Everidge

The June Buchanan School is proud to announce that one of its graduating seniors, Channing Everidge, has been accepted to William & Mary, one of only eight schools in the nation designated a “Public Ivy” institution. A Public Ivy offers a superior education at a cost far below that of Ivy League schools. Everidge is the daughter of Angie and Steve Spady of Leburn, Kentucky, and Jeff and Kathy Everidge of Ary, Kentucky.

Everidge has attended The June Buchanan School since her first grade year and has flourished both academically and artistically. She recently signed a multi-book deal with Lifeway Christian Publishing, becoming the youngest illustrator to have worked with this publishing company in over twenty years. Additionally, Everidge has participated in the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program, Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY), and is a Rogers Scholar. She has also received many artistic awards at the Kentucky State Fair, as well as taking first place in Arts & Humanities at the KAAC Regional Governor’s Cup Competition her junior year. Although she has yet to decide upon a major, she is very excited about this terrific accomplishment and knows that her perseverance and the work ethic she learned at JBS will lead her to success.

“I am unbelievably honored to be accepted by such an esteemed institution,” said Everidge. “I know that it wouldn’t be possible without the preparation that The June Buchanan School has provided me.”

The second oldest college in the nation, William & Mary boasts a proud history and lays claim to having some of the best and brightest students in the nation. The school, which is also an innovative and cutting-edge research university, is located in Williamsburg, Virginia, which the College refers to as “a thriving intellectual community that produces experienced, engaged, successful graduates.”

“Our students are not only some of the smartest in the world, but passionate about serving others and serious about having fun,” vows the William & Mary website. Since students at JBS learn the importance of serving others and giving back to their community at a very young age, Everidge will be a good fit at the college and will undoubtedly make an easy transition to campus life.

Amanda Clark, dean of The June Buchanan School, says, “I am so excited for Channing on being accepted to William & Mary! Channing is only one example of how far hard work and dedication can take you. She stands out as not only a student and artist, but also as an athlete, proving to be a well-rounded individual. She perseveres and is persistent in her work and exemplifies a true scholar. I’m proud of her and wish her the best in her future.”

Good luck, Channing, in your future endeavors from all of us in Pippa Passes!
