The Eagles returned to their home floor on Saturday, December 14th, to take on IU East. The hosts survived a tough test from the Red Wolves, claiming an 81-76 victory.

Coming off of a tough road loss at Pittsburgh’s Point Park, Alice Lloyd was itching to get into the win column and improve their conference record with a statement win over their conference counterparts.

The game started in thrilling fashion, with both teams exchanging the lead six times and tying things up on nine different occasions. Neither team led by more than seven points in the opening stanza, and Alice Lloyd would go into the locker room, clinging to a four-point halftime lead, 40-36.

The second half would live up to the excitement of the first. Alice Lloyd kept a slight advantage for nearly the entirety of the second half. However, with six minutes remaining, IU East began to mount a comeback. Trailing 71-63, the Red Wolves went on an 8-0 run to tie the game at 71 with three minutes left on the clock. ALC briefly regained the lead before IU East charged back out in front. With two minutes to play, the Eagles clawed their way to a 78-76 edge.

Luckily for the home team, IU East misfired on a couple of opportunities, which led to ALC putting the game on ice from the free throw line, outlasting the visitors for the win.

Stuart Stamper led the way for the Eagles with 18 points while Kuron Mitchell had 14. Tyler Rogers continued to make life miserable for his opponents, generating 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Tyler Fangman had 26 points for IU East.

Alice Lloyd’s superior shooting and fewer turnovers proved to be the difference. The Eagles outshot IU East 54% to 48% while turning the ball over 11 times to the Red Wolves 15.

The Eagles will head out on the road for a two-game road stretch, with games at Pikeville on December 15th and Marshall University on December 17th.
