The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles traveled to Milligan College (Tn.) on Friday, November 15th, to participate in the Milligan College Classic. The Lady Eagles squared off against unfamiliar opponents in the Selma University Lady Bulldogs and the Carroll College Lady Fighting Saints. Alice Lloyd would win one of the contests, but would fall in a fierce challenge to their competitors from the far north.

Ariel Nickell officially entered ALC's 2,000 Point Club with her performance on Friday night.

Game 1
ALC 85
SU 53

ALC was looking to build off of their most recent performance against the University of Pikeville. The Lady Eagles faced Selma University (Alabama) in the opening game, and were able to get their way early and often against the Lady Bulldogs, winning 85-53. Alice Lloyd was able to go on multiple runs throughout the first half and took a thirteen point lead into halftime, 35-22.

In the second half, ALC’s dominance continued as the Lady Eagles outscored Selma, 50-31.

Ariel Nickell had her customary performance with 27 points and 16 rebounds while Taylor Arthur also had a stellar game, churning out a double-double of her own. The freshman forward had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Carla Booth picked up 16 points and tallied 5 assists.

Game 2
ALC 54
CC 75

In game two, Alice Lloyd would have a tougher time against NAIA Division I opponent Carroll College (Montana) on Saturday, November 16th. The Lady Eagles were attempting to make it two-for-two as they engaged the Lady Fighting Saints in a seesaw battle before Carroll took a 27-25 lead into intermission.

In the second half, the Lady Eagles could not maintain that same intensity they had in the first half, and Carroll was able to run away with it, outscoring ALC 48-29.

Ariel Nickell led the way for ALC with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Carla Booth put up 17.

Carroll’s Kalee Junkermier had 18 points.

ALC’s biggest downfall was their inability to patrol the glass as Carroll out-rebounded them, 45-32. The Saints shot 48 percent from the floor, and their stifling defense left Nickell, the Lady Eagles’ leading scorer, with under 20 points.

The Lady Eagles will get a much-needed rest, but will get back on the road for a game at Ohio Christian University on November 22nd. Tip-off is set for 7 PM.
