The Alice Lloyd Eagles were back in action at home on Saturday, November 16th, against the Milligan College Buffaloes. It was a close ballgame in the first half, but in the second, Milligan pulled away and took the victory, 88-68.
ALC was going for back-to-back victories for the second time this season. The Eagles led for most of the first half, however, Milligan made a late run to take the lead and made a buzzer-beating three to end the half. This gave the visitors a 35-28 cushion going into the break.
It remained close for the first several minutes of the second half, but Milligan raised their game and made the necessary adjustments to increase their advantage. Alice Lloyd was unable to make shots on the offensive end, while Milligan forced turnovers that led to transition buckets. Milligan outscored the Eagles 53-40.
Alice Lloyd was led by Kuron Mitchell. The sophomore guard had 15 points and recorded 6 rebounds. Cody Stumbo had 14 points, and senior point guard Isaac Wilson produced 13.
Milligan’s leading scorer was Corey Hendren with 19 points.
A major deciding factor in the outcome was shooting percentage. Alice Lloyd shot at a 42% clip (21 for 50) while the Buffaloes hit 61% from the field (34 for 55), including 41% from the perimeter (10 for 24).
The Eagles will now go on the road for a game at Crown College on Tuesday, November 19th, at 6 PM.
