On Wednesday, November 6th, Alice Lloyd College hosted a very special talent show, proceeds of which will be divided and given to Relay for Life and local high school football coach Chuck Fugate.

Fugate is the assistant football coach at Hazard High School. He was diagnosed with leukemia in August. Since that time, Fugate has stayed in the Hazard ARH Medical Center where he has been receiving cancer treatments. The local community has rallied around Fugate, lending him their encouragement and financial assistance. ALC students and Hazard High School alumnae Katie Eversole and Meghan Herald organized the talent show to support their former teacher and friend.

For the last seven or eight years, Eversole has been participating in and raising money for Relay for Life. Sadly, Eversole’s grandfather passed away last year, but her efforts against this deadly disease continue. Dedicated and determined, Eversole and Herald have raised over $1200 for these two honorable organizations.

After the talent show’s success, Eversole stated, “Last night really showed me that if you set your mind to make a difference, you really can. Everyone’s support was so uplifting, and we had so much fun doing it!”

Herald and Eversole have designed T-shirts to help raise money for Coach Fugate. They will be accepting orders until Wednesday, November 13th.
