ALC signs Austin White.

The Alice Lloyd College baseball program, under the direction of coaches Scott Cornett and Jason Stowers, is pleased to announce the signings of Austin White and Kannon Newsome to athletic letters of intent for the 2013-14 season. The signings add to an ever-growing list of outstanding recruits for the Eagles squad.

During his senior season, Sullivan East’s Austin White served as his team’s shortstop and lead-off hitter. White recorded some impressive stats for the Patriots, claiming a slugging percentage of .570, an on-base percentage of .456, and a batting average of .364.

Austin is a promising young player,” Coach Hatfield said. “He will have tons of potential once he gets stronger and refines his skills.”

Betsy Layne High School’s Kannon Newsome, one of the 15th Region’s top pitchers, will add even more depth to ALC’s pitching staff.

“He will be a nice arm off the mound,” Coach Hatfield said of the Bobcats’ star. “He throws the ball downhill very well. He’s a very athletic kid, and we’re excited to have him on our team.”

Newsome will also play golf for the Eagles.

With the addition of these talented young men, the future looks even brighter for the Eagles in the highly-competitive Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
