The Alice Lloyd College baseball program, under the direction of head coach Scott Cornett, is pleased to announce the signing of Scott High School’s (West Virginia) Forrest Spurlock to an athletic letter of intent for the 2013-14 season. Eagles assistant coach Jason Stowers traveled to Madison, WV on Monday, May 6th, and returned to Pippa Passes with the fresh signature of the Skyhawks’ big, left-handed power-hitter.

“This young man is the real deal,” Coach Stowers said. “He should make a huge impact for our team next season.”

Forrest Spurlock (bottom center) became an Alice Lloyd Eagle on Monday, May 6th.

The Eagles, while improving their pitching staff, struggled to score at times during the spring. The addition of Spurlock could quite possibly prove to be a strong remedy. Currently, Spurlock leads the state of West Virginia in homeruns (13) and RBIs (59). He has become Scott High’s all-time homerun leader, amassing 38 of them throughout his career. At of the time of writing, Spurlock is batting .500.

The senior has been an excellent leader for his team and will most likely be in the running for his state’s Player of the Year honors. His Skyhawks will battle Chapmanville this week in a best of three-game series for the sectional championship.

It seems that Eagles Baseball could very well have found its next star.
