PIPPA PASSES, Ky. – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) has announced the 2013 All-Americans for baseball. This year, two Alice Lloyd Eagles were named to the prestigious list of honorees.

Second team selection senior Brandon Arnold was an outstanding outfielder during the season, recording only one error. The center fielder from Bristol, Virginia hit .383 with a .483 slugging percentage. Arnold collected 52 hits, 13 of which were doubles. He also had an on-base percentage of .452. In the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC), he was ranked 10th in batting average, 12th in slugging percentage, and 8th in triples. During the season, Arnold was recognized with a KIAC Baseball Player of the Week title.

Senior first baseman Cody Hyden was an honorable mention recipient. The Bristol, Tennessee native had a batting average of .340 and a slugging percentage of .477. He racked up 34 RBIs and had a stellar fielding percentage of .985. His stats made him one of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s most steady players. He was 15th in batting average, 12th in RBIs per game, 14th in slugging percentage, tied for 7th in homeruns, 10th in fielding percentage, and 5th in total putouts.

Arnold and Hyden were tied for 8th in the KIAC for doubles (13).

This marks the second time that Hyden has been recognized by the USCAA. Last year, he was named a First Team All-American as a third baseman.

Over the past two seasons, Eagles Baseball has had four of its players selected as USCAA All-Americans.
