The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles softball squad battled the University of Cincinnati Clermont on Saturday afternoon. The games were played in Pippa Passes, Kentucky. Below is a rundown of the two-game series.

Pitcher Kayla Stambaugh was solid on the mound as she led the hosts to the victory in game one. The visitors scored 1 run to open the contest before ALC quickly took over. They plated 2 in the bottom of the inning before taking command with 3 runs in the fifth and 2 insurance runs one inning later.

Megan Boswell, Whitley Albury, and Kristin Fields each smacked 2 hits while Taylor Short and Stambaugh each added 1. Boswell continued her excellent play this season, leading the way with 2 RBIs.

Whitley Albury continues to shine on the mound.

Pitcher Whitley Albury was in total command of the mound as she led the hosts to the convincing victory. Newcomer Albury was nearly perfect in this exciting game and continues to impress with her stellar play on the hill.

The contest was scoreless until the fourth inning when Taylor Short would triple, then score. The Lady Eagles then plated 3 insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Albury, Kristin Fields, and Short each smacked 2 hits apiece while Kayla Stambaugh and Shayla Brinegar each added 1. Stambaugh and Chelsea Brown each had 1 RBI.

The wins were a milestone for the Lady Eagles as it marked their first-ever sweep in a doubleheader.

Next up, Alice Lloyd will play a four-game series versus Brescia University. The games are set for April 19th and 20th and will be played at ALC. The doubleheader on the 19th begins at 3 PM while the games for the 20th will start at 11 AM.
