Pitcher Neil Dillon

Game 1

ALC 7

BU 4

Alice Lloyd faced Brescia University in this six seed versus three seed match-up. Ace Neil Dillon took to the mound for the Eagles.

Both teams started off well by getting a run across in the first inning. ALC took a lead it would never relinquish in the second inning, as they scored three runs to take a 4-1 advantage. The Eagles added two more in the fifth to make it 6-1 and staved off a Brescia rally in the latter innings to earn the big victory.

Ben Ray,Shane Pack, Cody Hyden, Kevin Smith, and Bobby Caldwell all had RBIs for the victors. Dillon went the full distance on the mound, allowing 4 runs (just 1 earned) on 10 hits and 3 walks. He also racked up 10 strikeouts in an impressive performance.

Game 2

Thursday, April 25th

ALC 1

IUS 21

ALC moved on in the double-elimination tournament to face off with the second seeded Grenadiers of IU Southeast. Dylan Sullins was on the mound to start for Alice Lloyd.

Many figured this would be a tough match-up on paper for ALC, and it showed immediately as IUS took a 5-0 lead in the very first inning. Unfortunately, the Grenadiers would add six more in the third to blow the contest wide open. The Eagles would add a lone run in the seventh inning to prevent the shutout.

Cody Hyden had the team’s only RBI. Sullins surrendered 11 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks while recording a strikeout in three innings. Russell Sweeney, Mackenzie Hicks, and Greg Wright took the mound in relief for ALC. The three pitched six innings, allowing 10 runs (9 earned) on 13 hits.

Game 3

Thursday, April 25th

ALC 1

AU 19

Ben Ray

The Eagles were facing elimination in this battle with Asbury University. Wayne Sparks was the starting pitcher in the win-or-go home clash for ALC.

Asbury added three runs over the first two innings to make it 3-0. Alice Lloyd would get one of those runs back in the third, but AU would score again in the fourth. The Eagles were still in the thick of things until the sixth inning when Asbury broke the game wide open with nine runs crossing the plate.

Ben Ray drove home the lone run for Alice Lloyd. Sparks gave up 10 runs and 15 hits in five innings. He also produced 5 Ks. Aaron Boling, Ryan Burrow, and Chance Westerfield provided relief. They went the last three innings, allowing 9 runs on 13 total hits.
