The Alice Lloyd Eagles were back in action Wednesday, April 10th, against Ohio Mid-Western. Here is a recap of both games, which took place in Pippa Passes, Kentucky.

Game 1

ALC 9

OMW 4

Shane Pack

In the series opener, Ryan Burrow was on the mound for the Eagles. Alice Lloyd seized the opportunity to lead immediately. The Eagles scored one run in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. ALC extended their lead with three more runs in the third.

Ohio Mid-Western finally got on the board in the fifth with two runs. However, the Eagles went on to score three in the fifth and pulled away. Shane Pack and Jake Bales led the way with 2 RBIs apiece. Josh Arnold, Cody Hyden, and Josh Mills also drove in runs. Burrow pitched five innings, allowing 8 hits and 2 runs (1 earned). He also recorded 8 strikeouts. Mackenzie Hicks and Russell Sweeney pitched the last two innings in relief, giving up 2 runs and 2 hits.

Game 2

ALC 5

OMW 6

Cody Hyden

The second game of the doubleheader was tightly contested from the start. Jordan Horn was the starting pitcher for ALC in this one. Alice Lloyd looked poised to get the sweep as they scored two runs in the first inning. Ohio Mid-Western responded in the third with three on the board, which gave them the advantage. The Eagles made sure it was short-lived, though, as they got one runner home in the bottom half of the third to even the score.

The last inning was dramatic as OMW scored three, but ALC was not going to go down without a fight. The Eagles were able to get two runners on base for Cody Hyden. With no outs, Hyden drove the base runners home with a triple. Ultimately, ALC would leave the tying-run in Hyden stranded at third to end the game.

Hyden would end up with 3 RBIs while Bobby Caldwell and Kevin Smith had 1 apiece. Horn lasted four innings, surrendering 2 runs and 2 hits. Chance Westerfield and Aaron Boling pitched the last three innings as they allowed 4 hits and 3 runs.
