The USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) has announced their Women’s Basketball All-American squad for 2012-13. Alice Lloyd College junior sensation Ariel Nickell and outstanding sophomore Carla Booth were both named to the exclusive first team.
To say that Nickell had an exceptional season is a huge understatement. On the season, the 5’9” forward from Tazewell, TN, led the Eagles in scoring (26ppg), rebounds (12.7), steals (2.2) and blocks (19). She finished first in the country in scoring and second in rebounding. Furthermore, she connected on 46% from the field and 71% from the free throw line. Last week, in addition, Nickell was selected as the Kentucky Intercollegiete Conference Player of the Year, as well as first team All-KIAC by the league’s coaches.
Booth also had an impressive season, averaging 17.7 points and 4.2 assists per game, which put her in the top five in the conference and top twenty nationally. Furthermore, she connected on 42% from the field and 75.6% from the free throw line. Last week, Booth was selected as first team All-KIAC by the league’s coaches.
