The Alice Lloyd Eagles traveled to Cincinnati to face the conference’s hottest club, Cincinnati Christian, in a big KIAC showdown Saturday afternoon. In a contest that went down to the wire, the hosts held on for a 70-67 victory.

In the first half, the Eagles played smart and did a good job controlling the tempo. Due to their patience, ALC led 25-22 at intermission.

In the second half, Alice Lloyd extended their lead to as much as seven points. Alice Lloyd did a good job defensively as they held the home team to 33% (9-27) shooting, including 1-6 from beyond the arc.

Unfortunately, Cincinnati made a comeback to go up by one late in the game.

The Eagles had two shots to take the lead at the end, but unfortunately, they could not get either to drop. CCU then iced the game with late free throws.

For the game Alice Lloyd shot 44 percent (26-for-58) from the field while Cincinnati Christian made 46 percent (25-for-54) of their shots.

Alice Lloyd‘s (9-18; 2-12 KIAC) junior guard Stuart Stamper led the way with 23 points on 8-15 shooting. Isaac Wilson sank 6-9 field goals and dropped in 14 points, while freshman forward Tyler Rogers chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

CCU (14-13; 8-4 KIAC), fresh off upset wins over nationally-ranked Indiana University Southeast and Berea College, won their fourth consecutive conference game. They were led by Kenny Gaynor with 25 points.

The men will meet their next opponent on Saturday, February 16th, when IU East visits Pippa Passes. “Senior Day” activities will be going on throughout the day with the Eagles taking the court at 1 PM.
