Alice Lloyd traveled to Ohio Christian on Tuesday night to take on the Lady Trailblazers from the NCCAA. The Lady Eagles won the hard fought match-up, 76-70. The game was played in Circleville, Ohio.
Both teams got off to a slow start in the first half. This allowed the game to stay close as the lead changed hands many times. ALC would take a one-point lead into intermission, 27-26.
Alice Lloyd (16-10, 9-5 KIAC) would raise their game in the second half. The team had a one-point lead about midway through the second stanza. From there, the visitors would go on an 8-0 run to extend their lead, which effectively sealed the deal for the Lady Eagles who have now won three in a row.
Ariel Nickell continues to make her case for Player of the Year in not only the KIAC, but also in the NAIA. She led the way with 29 points, including 9-10 from the charity stripe and 11 rebounds. Carla Booth continued her strong and consistent play, picking up 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Shelby Roe had 17 points for Ohio Christian (16-11).
Alice Lloyd shot 47% (29-for-61) for the game, including 60% in the second half. Ohio Christian shot 40% (24-for-60). This game did not affect ALC in the conference standings. They are a half game behind Asbury for 2nd and one and a half games behind Point Park for 1st in the conference.
The Lady Eagles next play conference foe Midway in a game to be played on Saturday, February 16th (ALC’s “Senior Day”). The contest tips at 3 PM at Alice Lloyd’s Grady Nutt Athletic Center in what will be the Lady Eagles’ final game before the start of postseason play.
