Game 1

ALC 12

OCU 2

In the series opener, Coach Scott Cornett gave the ball to Dylan Sullins as the starting pitcher. Alice Lloyd’s bats would make some noise in the very first inning as they scored two runs. The Eagles would duplicate this feat in the second inning and would score runs in every inning but the seventh. Bobby Caldwell had a monster day at the plate. Despite getting only one hit, he accounted for five runs, driving four in and scoring another. Kevin Smith had two RBIs while Josh Mills, Shane Pack, Trey Minton, Cody Hyden, and Ben Ray all drove in a run. Hitters one through eight either scored or drove in runs. Sullins pitched a stellar game, only giving up 2 runs (none of them earned) on 4 hits in six innings. He recorded two strikeouts.

Game 2

ALC 0

OCU 5

Game two of the doubleheader had a much different outcome than the first. Wayne Sparks toed the rubber for this match-up. Ohio Christian would draw first blood as they would bring home two in the second inning. The Trailblazers scored one more in the third inning and two more in the eight to become grand slam-proof and closed the door.

The Eagles had eight hits and drew a walk but had nothing to show for it. Sparks gave up 5 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits and a base on ball. He also recorded 7 strikeouts. Chance Westerfield provided some relief as he pitched 2 scoreless innings, giving up 1 hit and striking out 2.

The Eagles will next face Bethel University at ALC’s Reeve Athletic Field in a double-header on Thursday, February 28th, at 1 PM.
