Alice Lloyd College saw their four-game win streak come to an end at the hands of the IU Southeast Lady Grenadiers on Saturday, 80-78. The big KIAC match-up was played in New Albany, Indiana.

The contest was tight throughout, but sparked by 16 first-half points from Carla Booth, ALC pulled ahead 44-39 at intermission.

In the second half, the Eagles were ice cold and the Grenadiers took advantage. Indiana went on an 18-5 run to pull ahead.

Despite the loss, Nickell was in excellent form.

Alice Lloyd’s Ariel Nickell pumped in 20 second-half points to spark the visitors on a comeback. With 4.5 seconds remaining and IUS clinging to a 79-78 lead, their fine guard Ashmire Woods went to the line. She sank the first, but missed the second charity toss. Unfortunately for the visitors, Woods collared her own miss and was able to drain precious time off the clock, preserving the win for her club.

Alice Lloyd (11-7; 4-2 KIAC) was led by Nickell with 29 points and 19 rebounds. Booth added 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. Her backcourt partner JJ Hickson chipped in with 13.

IUS (10-7; 3-3 KIAC) was led by Woods with 22 points and 17 rebounds.

The women will next play the St. Louis College of Pharmacy at Berea College on January 18th. The game tips at 6:30 PM.
