The ALC Lady Eagles continue to impress this season, claiming two victories in weekend play over conference opponents St. Louis College of Pharmacy and Indiana University East. With the wins, ALC has reclaimed its place at the top of the KIAC rankings. Following are recaps of each game.

 

January 18th

ALC 87

SLCOP 26

The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles overwhelmed the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Lady Eutectics on Friday by the final score of 87-26. This KIAC contest took place at the Seabury Center in Berea, Kentucky. The win marked the 300th career victory for ALC’s Coach John Mills.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early lead and maintained it from start to finish as they would take a 41-9 advantage into halftime. In the second half, Alice Lloyd extended their lead even more as they would outscore the Lady Eutectics by a score of 46-17.

ALC (12-7; 6-2) was led by Ariel Nickell with 15 points. JJ Hickson added 14 while Chelsea Brown added 10.

Amber Laurent led the Lady Eutectics (1-9; 0-3 KIAC) with 11 points.

Alice Lloyd was 35-74 (47.3%) for the game in field goals. The ALC defense denied any offensive rhythm for SLCOP, holding them to an ice-cold 9-46 (19.6%) from the floor.

 

January 19th

Midway 59

Ariel Nickell

The Lady Eagles would have to go on the road for a second consecutive day, facing the Lady Eagles of Midway College at Midway’s Marshall Gymnasium. ALC came away victorious in this KIAC test by the final score of 67-59.

Alice Lloyd took the fight to Midway and ended up with a 35-24 lead at intermission. In the second half, Midway was determined to make the game tight, but Alice Lloyd maintained their advantage despite being outscored 35-32.

ALC (13-7; 7-2) was led by Ariel Nickell with 28 points and 13 rebounds. Carla Booth was solid at the point, adding 21.

McKenzie Laswell had 16 points for Midway.

Alice Lloyd was able to impose their will in this game as they dominated inside the arc with 50 of their 67 points being two-pointers.

In the field goal department, ALC was 26-57 (45.6%) while Midway shot 23-63 (36.5%).

The Lady Eagles will once again be on the road as they journey to Asbury University on January 24th. This important conference match-up tips at 5:30 PM.
