The Alice Lloyd Eagles faced two stiff challenges over the weekend as they battled Point Park University and IU Southeast. Following are recaps of each game.

January 4th

ALC 74
Point Park Pioneers 80

Point Park journeyed from Pittsburgh, PA to Pippa Passes and left with a hard fought 80-74 victory over the Eagles.

In the first half, the score was tied at six before the Pioneers began to pull ahead. They led by as many as 14 (37-23) with four minutes remaining, and took a 43-33 by intermission.

In the second half, the Eagles got off to a slow start and Point Park capitalized. They began the half on a 7-1 run to open up a 50-34 lead with 15:00 remaining; they still led 63-46 with 10:00 to go. However, rather than fold, the hosts battled back.

ALC scrapped and worked their way back into contention. When guard Isaac Wilson connected on a drive to the hoop with 1:00 left on the clock, the deficit was only three (73-70) and anything was possible.

ALC had no choice but to foul to stop the clock. Unfortunately, the Pioneers sank four big free throws to keep Alice Lloyd at bay.

For the Eagles (7-8; 1-2 KIAC), Wilson led the way with 16 points. Tyler Rogers added 15.

For Pint Park (7-6; 3-4 KIAC), guard Gabe McNeal tossed in 22 points.

In the first half, Tyler Rogers staked the hosts to a 13-10 cushion, but the Grenadiers closed the half on a 22-10 run to lead 32-23 at intermission.

In the second half, IUS opened on a 12-3 run in just three minutes and led 44-26. Over the next eight minutes, Alice Lloyd went on a 21-8 run and suddenly found themselves within five (52-47). Alas, the visitors regrouped. Their defense held the Eagles to just 9 points the remainder of the game, and they earned the win.

For ALC (7-9; 1-3 KIAC), Rogers tied for game high honors with 19 points. Guard Stuart Stamper added 15.

IUS (13-3; 3-0 KIAC) was led by Jake Simpson with 19 points.
