The ALC Eagles faced a formidable conference opponent on Saturday as Cincinnati Christian University came to the Grady Nutt Athletic Center. In a game comprised of runs, CCU pulled out the 79-72 win.

Alice Lloyd dug themselves an early hole against the Golden Eagles, who had recently played NCAA Division 1 opponent Radford University to overtime.

CCU came out of the gates hot and quickly had a double-figure lead. They increased it to 17 points by the 10-minute mark.

Tyler Rogers then helped spark an Eagles comeback that permitted the hosts to close the gap. By intermission, Cincinnati’s lead had dwindled to just six (34-28).

In the second half, the visitors went ahead by double figures again, only to see the Eagles reduce the margin to just four with 5:00 on the clock. Unfortunately, CCU slammed the door shut by sinking critical free throws to ice the game.

For ALC (8-11; 1-5 KIAC), Tyler Rogers paved the way with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Isaac Wilson and Stuart Stamper each added 14, while Terry Muse contributed 9 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

For CCU (7-6; 2-1 KIAC), guard DJ McCommons led the way with 22 points.

The Eagles will next face the St. Louis College of Pharmacy at Berea on January 18th. The game is set to tip at 7:30 PM.
