The founders of the Mission of Hope honored one of their biggest champions on Thursday.

At its fall banquet, the Mission of Hope surprised Bill Williams by announcing it will renovate the Serving Heart Center at Alice Lloyd College and name it in his honor. The Kentucky college admits Appalachian students and pays for their tuition.

Williams helped Mission of Hope grow into what it is today by telling the stories of those struggling in rural Appalachia.

“We can never say thank you enough for his passion for helping children in very rural depressed areas, and it’s just a wonderful feeling to be able to do something for him on all of our behalf at MOH to say ‘thank you Bill for helping us extend hope,'” said Emmette Thompson, executive director of Mission of Hope.

“Mission of Hope, Alice Lloyd College is not about Bill Williams, it’s people like you that make things like this happen,” said Bill Williams.

The Mission of Hope will soon start collecting toys for its annual Christmas drive.
