Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) will be hosting a Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness and Research on Tuesday, October 23rd. This event will take place on Purpose Road. Everything begins at 4:30 PM (with sign-up in the Meadow) and ends at 5:30 PM.

Our Challenge To You!

We are challenging each department, student organization, or anyone else who would like to participate to create a team and help us raise money for an amazing cause! ALL proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. In the past two years, we have raised over $1,250 through your generosity!

What You Need To Do

Recruit members for your team and start collecting donations. Attached below you will find two printable PDF forms. One is “In Memory Of” and the other is “In Honor Of.” Print what you wish to sell. Ask anyone you know to donate to our cause. They can donate $1, $5, $10, etc. per fourth a page. The papers, along with donations, need to be turned in on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the time of the walk.

What Your Teams Will Do At The Walk

We encourage all teams to meet in the Meadow by 4:30 PM. You may bring chairs, tables, etc. with you for your team. Team shirts may be made so each team is distinguishable. If you do not make shirts, we ask that you please wear pink to the walk. The walk will be very similar to that of “Relay for Life” in that we ask that at least one participant from each group be walking the Purpose Road at all times. The walk will begin promptly at 4:40 PM to allow any faculty/staff member time to get things settled. Phi Beta Lambda will have a table set up in the Meadow for anyone who would like to donate during the walk.

What You Gain

Of course, the obvious answer is a sense of accomplishment and pride for such a selfless activity. However, each walker will receive a Susan G. Komen 2013 pocket calendar as a token of appreciation for supporting this worthy cause. Students, if you are in the Alice Lloyd College Leadership Program, you can count this as volunteer hours.

If you have any questions, please contact Denise Jacobs at extension 6092.

We really hope that you can help us make a difference in our community. Hope to hear from you soon!
