Jason Collins

JASON COLLINS was a four-year member of the Eagles basketball squad. He was an exceptionally gifted athlete who played above the rim, could score from anywhere, and was a tenacious rebounder. During his career, he was a four-year starter. As a freshman, he gave a preview of great things to come as he led the team in rebounding, finished second in scoring, and was named to the conference’s All-Freshman team.

Building on his rookie successes, this young man carved out an incredible career. He is the only player in school history to lead the team in rebounding all four seasons he played, and he never averaged less than 9.2 rebounds per game. His season high rebounding average was 10 rebounds per game. He also led the team in scoring for 3 seasons, and is only the second player in school history to accomplish this feat. His high water mark was averaging 20.1 points per game as a junior. He also was named best defensive player 2 times and led the club in steals on 3 separate occasions. He was voted to the all-conference team every year he played, and was also named Honorable Mention All–American as a senior. Furthermore, he was named team MVP for three seasons and finished his incredible career with 1,808 points and 1,011 rebounds. This makes him only the third person in school history to be in the elite 1000-1000 club.

He was accompanied by his wife Holli, his son Jason Matthew, his daughter Emma, and his parents, John and Judy Collins. Currently, he resides in Auburn, Alabama, where he serves his community by working as a sales representative for Builders First Source.
