The JBS ACE Club (Art and Cultural Enrichment) is already off to a great start with exciting educational adventures planned for the new year! Serving as an honors club for grades 7-12, this group allows the school’s top students to be rewarded for their hard work and dedication to their studies. Last week, 22 students visited historic Abingdon, VA and saw the widely acclaimed David: The New Musical at the famous Barter Theatre. The musical story of the shepherd who became king, it was a mesmerizing mix of storytelling and incredible music. The students enjoyed learning more about the heroic tale of good versus evil and the amazing things that can be accomplished when life is completely devoted to God.
In its third year at JBS, the ACE Club has been busy since its inception. Students have visited Biltmore House and Gardens, Nashville’s Parthenon replica, the Opryland Hotel, saw the Radio City Rockettes, and also enjoyed the Broadway Across America series. Last year, they celebrated Christmas in New York City and saw the Broadway show Spider-Man. This year, they’ll be seeing Tarzan, the Broadway show Beauty and the Beast, and visiting the St. James Art Fair, to name a few. They’re also busy fundraising for an adventure to London and Paris in the summer.
The students wish to thank their sponsor, Angie Spady, for organizing these activities, as well as Grace Henderson, Robin Cook, Dean Amanda Clark, and President Stepp for all of their support and dedication to art and cultural enrichment. We count our blessings daily for such wonderful opportunities.
