Students in Mrs. Henderson’s Art classes have been working diligently on their art and penmanship works. Congratulations to the following JBS students for the awards they received in the 2012 Gingerbread Penmanship Contest. There were 109 entries from four county elementary schools. Only 27 awards were given. 2nd Grade: Caitlin Cook – 2nd place; Parker Hammond – 3rd place 3rd Grade:  Natalie Gibson – 1st place; Jonathan Kunkel – 2nd place; Gavin Thompson (pictured left) – 3rd place. 5th Grade:  Madison Huff – 1st place; Nikolas Cornett – 2nd place; Samantha Bryant – 3rd place.       8th Grade:  Megan Hall – 1st place; Tyra Lamb – 3rd place.   The following students at JBS were awarded for their art pieces in the 2012 Gingerbread Art Festival Contest:

 

1st Grade: Sidney Wallen (pictured left) – 2nd place for her Watercolor/Tempera painting, “The Cat.” Jo Jo Reynolds (pictured left) – 1st place for his Colored Drawing, “Spring Day” and  3rd place for Water Color/Tempera, “King of the Forest.” 2nd Grade:  McKenzie Slone – 3rd place for her Colored Drawing, “Birds of a Feather”; 3rd place for her Black & White Drawing, “Playful Kitten.” Caitlin Cook – Honorable Mention for her Color Drawing, “Cockatoo.” Parker Hammond – Honorable Mention for his Watercolor/Tempera painting, “Parrot Family.” 3rd Grade:  Cassie Combs – 1st place for her Watercolor/Tempera Painting, “Spring Splashdown.” 4th Grade:  Samantha Bryant – Honorable Mention for her Color Drawing, “Miss Turtle.” Riele Holbrook – 1st place for her Watercolor/Tempera Painting, “Flip Flops on the Beach”; 2nd place for her Color Drawing, “Running Free”; 1st place for her Black and White Drawing, “The Unknown Side of Me.” 5th Grade:  Kassidy Everidge – 1st place for her Color Drawing, “Cat Nap.” Anika Thacker – Honorable Mention for her Acrylic/Oil painting, “Happy House in Shades of Blue.” 7th Grade:  Sydney Thompson – 3rd place for her Color Drawing, “Crusaders.” JBS placed 3rd overall in the art contest.
