The Alice Lloyd College Eagles played host to New River on Friday evening. A nice crowd was on hand to witness Senior Day for a school record 11 young men. The fans were treated to a solid display of baseball as they were able to witness the home team pull out the convincing 9-3 victory.

Before the matchup, Eagles mentor Scott Cornett recognized the following seniors: Will Leonard, Jeff Cyrus, Dustin Kingsmore, Shannon Roberts, Will Ray, Trey King, Trevor Corns, Lewis Michael, Taylor Sewell, Devon Pelfrey, and Devon Denson. Each young man was applauded for his numerous contributions to the school and athletic program. After the emotional ceremony, it was down to the business at hand.

ALC quickly struck with three runs in their opening at-bat, and they slowly added to the lead. On the afternoon, the Eagles outhit their guests 15-7.

King led the hit parade, going a perfect 5-5 with 2 RBIs. Pelfrey went 3-4 (including one double) with a game-leading 3 RBIs. Cyrus and Brandon Arnold each contributed 2 hits each with Cyrus knocking a triple and adding 2 RBIs of his own. In addition, Leonard, Sewell, and Kingsmore each added 1 hit apiece.

Not to be upstaged by his teammates, Eagles pitcher Corns tossed eight brilliant innings of 4 hit ball. He struck out 5 while registering no walks in his final game on the home mound.
