The Alice Lloyd Eagles Baseball squad traveled to sunny Florida during Spring Break to face Clearwater Christian College in three contests. Following are summaries of each game.

March 9

Game 1

Corey Brewer on the mound.

The Eagles opened up play against a hot Clearwater club and fell in a slugfest. The contest was tied after four innings and remained tight until CCC exploded for 8 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Clearwater pounded out 19 hits while the Eagles rapped 15 of their own. ALC did commit four errors to none for the hosts.

Six Eagles had a multi-hit game. They were paced by Jeff Cyrus with three hits, while Kevin Smith, Shane Pack, Brandon Arnold, Devon Pelfrey, and Trey King each added two. Both Cyrus and Smith cracked long homeruns.

Pitcher Cory Brewer allowed eight hits and gave up five earned runs in suffering the pitching loss.

 

March 10

The Eagles bats cooled off considerably after a night in the Florida air. Cody Hyden had the lone hit for the guests. Pitcher Neil Dillion tossed a fine game as he held CCC at bay until the bottom of the sixth inning. The hosts scored all of their runs in their last at bat, but only had 7 hits while striking out five times.

The last contest was close as ALC battled hard before falling once more in the closing innings. The Eagles were outhit 11-8 and committed five costly errors. Will Leonard led the way with 2 hits while Shane Pack had 2 RBIs.

Pitcher Trevor Corns allowed 5 earned runs in picking up the loss on the mound.
