Alice Lloyd College Head Softball Coach John Mills and Assistant Coach Chris Slone have announced the signing of two Powell County standouts for the 2012-13 season.

Ashleigh Bolduc is an excellent pitcher who brings an impressive résumé to the Lady Eagles program.

In 2011 Bolduc played in 31 games. Last season at the plate, she maintained a solid .330 batting average and .405 on base percentage. She also added 16 RBIs on 32 hits. On the mound, however, is where she really shone. She produced a glittering 7-1 record, while recording 41 strikeouts over 47 innings. In those innings, she only allowed 4 earned runs and 25 hits, while limiting opposing batters to a paltry .144 batting average and .06 on-base percentage.

Kayla Goodwin plays both the outfield and shortstop and is known for her steady hitting and solid defense.

In 2011, Goodwin played in 37 games. Last season at the plate, she maintained a solid .313 batting average and .402 on-base percentage, while adding 22 RBIs on 36 hits. This follows an impressive junior campaign where she batted .354 with 40 hits and 26 RBIs.

The two ladies led Powell County to a regional Runner-Up finish last season, and they hope to advance one step further this year.

“They have worked hard in the classroom and on the field to get this opportunity to not only further their education, but to play college softball, too,” Powell Coach David Faulkner told the crowd. “If you work hard, you can achieve this as well, but you have to make sure the grades are there first.”

As for Bolduc and Goodwin, Faulkner knows they can be impact players at the next level. “They work hard and have so much power,” he said. “They helped our program a lot, and I know they can go there (Alice Lloyd) and produce for them too.”

When asked about the two new signees, Alice Lloyd coach Chris Slone remarked, “Coach Dave Faulkner and Powell County have produced some really good softball players. I know how hard he works and how hard the girls work there. I believe both Ashleigh and Kayla will have the opportunity to be playing for us really quickly.”
