In half two, the Eagles still led by 15 (48-33) at the 17:00 mark. At this juncture, Virginia Intermont went on a 24-10 run over the next nine minutes to cut the deficit to one at 58-57 with 8:21 left. The game was anybody’s at this point.
After an Eagles time out, senior Casey Dalton drained consecutive bombs and sparked a 16-1 ALC run over the next 4:21. When the smoke cleared, Alice Lloyd’s lead was 16 (74-58), and the hosts were never threatened again.
For the victors (7-4), Wilson and Dalton paved the way with 23 and 22 points, respectively. Wilson had 19 of his points in the first half while Dalton swished 16 of his in the closing half.
Additional support came from forwards Shawn Thompson and Brandon Hayes who each chipped in with 12 points. In addition, Brent Hall led in rebounds with 11 and Wilson led in assists with 6. Big man Terry Muse filled the stat sheet by adding 9 points, 7 rebounds, and rejecting 5 of the Cobras’ shots.
