The Alice Lloyd Eagles spent part of their Christmas break in sunny Florida as they traveled to Babson Park to participate in the Holiday Inn Express Classic hosted by Webber International University. The Eagles played the host Warriors on December 29th, and on the following afternoon, they played Faulkner University (Alabama). Below are recaps of each game.

Alice Lloyd had the difficult task of opening up play against the host team. ALC led by 1 point at the half before eventually succumbing 68-62.

In the opening twenty minutes, the Eagles jumped out to a quick 12-8 lead at 13:36 behind the inside play of senior Brandon Hayes, junior Shawn Thompson, and sophomore Terry Muse.

Webber then went on a 12-2 run over the next two and a half minutes to take a 20-14 lead at 10:55.

Hayes then decided to take matters into his own hands for the Eagles. Over the next seven minutes, he sparked an 18-4 run, scoring 11 points. When the dust cleared, ALC had taken their largest lead of the game at 32-24. Webber then closed the half on a 9-2 run to set the halftime score at 34-33 in favor of Alice Lloyd.

In the final half, Muse opened up the scoring for ALC with a powerful dunk, courtesy of a nice assist from guard Isaac Wilson, and the Eagles looked poised to take off once more. Unfortunately, things did not go as hoped.

Over the next sixteen minutes, the Eagles went ice cold, only managing to score seventeen points. When senior Casey Dalton hit a driving layup with 3:25 remaining, Alice Lloyd trailed by 13 (64-51).The Eagles battled back, but were never able to get closer than the final score.

For ALC (8-5), Hayes led the way with 17 points on 8-11 shooting. He also added 6 rebounds.

Also in double figures were freshmen Tyler Ailshie with 13 points and Wilson with 11. Wilson also added a game high 5 assists.  In addition, Muse hauled down a team high 13 rebounds, while junior Brent Hall pulled down 11.

Webber (5-4) was led by 18 points from Mesidore Johnson.

The Eagles did themselves in with their shooting. On the night, they only shot 36.8% from the field and 50% from the charity stripe. The Warriors also shot poorly, connecting on just 32.5% from the field and 43.8% from the foul line.

Faulkner University 69

The Faulkner University Eagles raced out to a 31-16 lead at intermission and defeated the Alice Lloyd Eagles 69-51 in a contest played Friday afternoon.

In the first half, ALC was ice cold, and the squad from Montgomery, Alabama took full advantage.

In the second half, Alice Lloyd fought to keep the game tight, but was never able to get closer than 12 points the rest of the game.

For ALC (8-6), Isaac Wilson and Shawn Thompson led the way with 17 and 14 points apiece. Terry Muse added 8 points and 9 rebounds.

Faulkner (8-5) was led by Decory Jones with 18.

For the game ALC shot a frigid 27.8% from the field (15-54) and 81% from the charity stripe (17-21), compared to Faulkner who shot a blazing 60% (27-45) from the field and 57.9% from the foul line (11-19).
