Alice Lloyd College battled hard but eventually fell to NCAA Division I opponent Gardner-Webb University 87-57 last night in a game played at Boiling Springs, North Carolina.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs came out of the gates on fire as they shot a sizzling 63% in the first half. They rode their hot shooting to a 48-28 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Gardner-Webb used their defensive pressure to keep ALC a comfortable distance away, and they maintained their advantage until the final buzzer.

For the Eagles (6-4), Shawn Thompson came off the bench to connect on 11-16 from the field for a game high 26 points. Isaac Wilson added 10.

Guard Max Landis led Gardner-Webb (5-6) with 19.
