Owen H. Park, a long-time member of the Alice Lloyd College Board of Trustees, passed away on November 7, 2011 in Carmel, Indiana.  Born in Irvine, Kentucky to P.B. and Porah Park on October 15, 1925, Owen had lived in Carmel for several years.  He and his wife, Charlene, had been married for sixty-one years.

Owen earned his Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1951 and his Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky in 1953.  He served as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II where he was stationed in the Philippines.

Owen held a variety of employment positions during his lifetime, including teaching high school and working in sales at Roddis Plywood Corporation, Weyerhaeuser Company, and Georgia Pacific.  More recently, Owen founded Heartland Industries, remaining a company consultant until his death.

Owen’s term on the ALC Board of Trustees began in 1994, and he served on several committees during his tenure.  Additionally, he was a member of Hazel Dell Christian Church, Carmel Zoning board, early president of the Carmel Dad’s Club and an avid runner.

Owen is survived by his wife, Charlene; son, Dr. Ben (Joan) Park; daughter, Meg (Phil) Gettum; 4 grandchildren, Allison, Ashley, Chris and Lauren; and sister, Elizabeth (George) Griffin.
