POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. — The NAIA has announced that 115 Division II Men and 219 Division II Women have been chosen as 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Basketball Scholar-Athletes.  Alice Lloyd College Eagle forwards Brent Hall nd Brandon Hayes, as well as Lady Eagle guard Sara Burchell, has been selected as recipients for this prestigious honor.

In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. They also must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

Hall, a native of Kite, KY, is a graduate of the June Buchanan School. He has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA at ALC. Brent is a Math Education major, and is the son of Richard Hall and Michele Bush.

Hayes, a native of Jackson, KY, is a graduate of Breathitt Co. High School. He has maintained a 3.62 GPA at ALC. Brandon is a Social Studies Education major, and is the son of Clifton and Catherine Hayes.

Burchell, a native of Manchester, KY, is a graduate of Clay Co. High School. She has maintained a 3.54 GPA at ALC. Sara is a Biology/ Pre-Pharmacy major, and is the daughter of James and Mary Anne Burchell.

Director of Athletics Gary D. Stepp commented, “Alice Lloyd College is pleased to have such fine young adults as Sara, Brent, and Brandon represent our institution. Each one of them is a hard worker who exemplifies what a true student athlete should be. Not only do these three excel in both the classroom and basketball arena, but each one demonstrates high character as well. They set a fine example for youngsters in our region, and I know we will hear big things from them in their future professions.”
