The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagle’s played host to the Pikeville Lady Bears on January 20th in a non-conference matchup, and suffered an 89-79 loss.

In the first half, the Bears (13-6) jumped ahead quickly and forced ALC to play catch up. At the half, PC led by six at 38-32.

In the second half, the Lady Eagles worked hard to close the gap. They finally took the lead on a Whitney Frazier (Louisa) bucket at the 10:00 mark. ALC used this momentum to push their lead to seven points with just under 8:00 remaining. Unfortunately, sparked by Natiera Hinton, Pikeville rallied to retake the lead. They then hit crucial free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

For the Lady Eagles (6-11), Frazier had a big game as the senior guard led all scorers with 25 points. She was followed in double figures by senior Nicole Lutes (Jackson) and freshman Courtney Crowder (Cumberland Gap Tn.) with 11 each. Freshman Ariel Nickell (Claiborne, Tn.) added 10.

Hinton led four Lady Bears in double figures with 17.
