On Tuesday night, the Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles played host to the NCCAA’s second ranked club, the Kentucky Christian University Knights, in a non-conference matchup. When the dust had settled, the Lady Eagles suffered a disappointing 74 – 67 defeat.

In the first half, the Knights quickly gained the upper hand. ALC did not play well and allowed the visitors to take a 28- 25 lead at intermission.

In the second half, KCU guard Tara Weedle came out on fire. Over the next five minutes, she drained three consecutive 3- point baskets and hit two from closer range to propel her team to a sixteen point lead.

With their backs clearly against the wall and under 10:00 remaining, the Lady Eagles fought back. Sparked by junior forward Gemma Gray, ALC cut the deficit to four with 2:30 remaining. After Alice Lloyd misfired on their next possession, the Knights scored. That was as close as ALC would get.

For Alice Lloyd (9 -12), they were led in scoring by freshmen Ariel Nickel (Claiborne, TN) with 17 points. Gray (Manchester) added 16.

For KCU (11-12), Weedle scored 22 of her game high 24 points in the second half.
