On Saturday, January 22, students from Beaver Elementary, Jones Fork Elementary, and The June Buchanan School competed in the district level of Governor’s Cup, the annual academic competition sponsored by the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition.  JBS hosted the day’s events, which included written assessment in the areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Arts & Humanities, and Composition.  Team events included Future Problem Solving and Quick Recall.  JBS would like to thank all of the coaches, parents, and volunteers from all of the schools for making the day such an outstanding success.  The following students will be advancing to regional competition, to be held at Hindman Elementary on February 5.

JBS students advancing to Regional competition are as follows:

Trey Moore (1st in Science, 1st in Social Studies)
Jake Long (5th in Social Studies)
Asma Akther (3rd in Language Arts, 2nd in Arts and Humanities)
Charity Cook (4th in Language Arts, 5th in Arts and Humanities and 3rd in Composition)
Ruby Yeary (3rd in Arts and Humanities)
Colton Jacobs (2nd in Composition)

The JBS Quick Recall Team took first place and overall JBS received 2nd place in the entire competition.
