Coach JR Hammonds’ Alice Lloyd Eagles played three conference games this week. Below are recaps of each game.

ALC-88; Berea-98

ALC played host to the Berea Mountaineers on Tuesday, and the matchup was a battle for forty minutes.

The first half was tight throughout, but the guests pulled ahead 48-40 by intermission.

In the second half, BC jumped out to a 12 point lead before the Eagles battled back to cut the deficit to just two with 2:23 remaining. ALC had a shot to tie, but misfired. Berea than connected on a big bucket to increase their lead to four, and then sealed the contest from the charity stripe.

ALC (4-16, 1-4 KIAC) was lead by 24 points from senior guard Daniel Combs (Hazard).Freshman Issac Wilson (Corbin) tossed in 21, while juniors Van Ferguson (Paintsville) and Brandon Hayes (Jackson) added 16 and 11 points respectively.

Berea (12-9, 3-2 KIAC) was paced by 29 points from Ruby Evans.

ALC-77; Asbury University-95

ALC traveled to Wilmore to face the league’s second place club, the Asbury Eagles.

The hosts jumped out to a 14-point lead early and had an 11-point cushion by intermission.

In the second half, Alice Lloyd fought back. A bucket by Charles O’Steen (Hazard) at the 12:37 mark gave the visitors their first lead of the night at 59-58.
Unfortunately, AU (14-6, 5-1 KIAC) went on a 12-3 run to erase any hopes of a comeback win for ALC.

Alice Lloyd (4-17, 1-5 KIAC), was led by Combs with 16 points.

Asbury guard Adam Delph led all scorers with 28.


ALC-61; Indiana University South-89

The league leading IU East Red Wolves traveled to the Grady Nutt Athletic Center and came away with a win over the Eagles.

In the first half, the Wolves came out hot and pulled ahead by 16-points at the break.

In the second half, Indiana continued to shoot well, and they steadily increased their lead until the final buzzer.
ALC (4-18, 1-6 KIAC) was led by Combs with 16.

For IUE (17-7, 7-1 KIAC), Matt Trimnell paced six double figure scorers with 17.
