The Alice Lloyd College Eagles took to the road for two conference games over the weekend.

The Eagles earned a split, as they defeated Saint Louis College of Pharmacy (in a contest played at Berea) 85-42. They then fell to the Indiana University-East Red Wolves 109-88.

On Friday, ALC faced STLCOP. This matchup was all Eagles from the opening tip, as they quickly raced out to an early lead. By intermission, the lead had ballooned to twenty-six (49-23).

The second half was much of the same as Coach J R Hammond was able to freely rotate his bench. In all, twelve Eagles dinted the scoring column by game’s end.

For ALC, three players reached double figures. They were led by freshman guard Isaac Wilson (Corbin High) with 17. He was followed by the junior duo of guard Van Ferguson (Paintsville) and forward Brandon Hayes (Jackson, Breathitt Co. High) with 14 and 12 points respectively. Hayes also added 9 rebounds while sophomore Brent Hall (Kite, June Buchanan High) ripped down a game high 11 boards.

On Saturday ALC faced a tough challenge at IU East. This game was all IUE as they came out of the gates on fire. Connecting from all angles, they poured in 60 first half points and took a commanding twenty-three point lead. The Eagles fought back in the second half, and cut the deficit to sixteen. The Red Wolves however, maintained their cushion until the final buzzer.

For ALC (4-13, 1-3 KIAC), they were led by Combs with 23. Ferguson and junior guard Zach Hurt (Cordia) each tossed in 19.

For Indiana-East (13-7, 4-1 KIAC) Matt Trimnell took game scoring honors with 28.
