As a part of Appalachia Day Homecoming festivities on Saturday, October 9, three former student-athletes were inducted into the ALC Athletic Hall of Fame.  The three inductees were Misty Eversoll-McAlarnis, Gary Gibson, and John Mills.Misty Eversoll- McAlarnis played basketball for the Lady Eagles from 1995 thru 1999.  She played the forward position for coaches John Mills and Denise Campbell.  She was selected to the Freshman All Conference Team, and during her career was twice named player of the week. As a senior, she averaged a double-double and led the conference in free throw percentage at 82%. She was known for her hardnosed attitude on the court and her strong competitive desire and will to win. She currently is a teacher at AB Combs Elementary School in Perry County.Gary Gibson played basketball for the Eagles from 1974-1976.  He left his mark on the Caney Creek Community Center with his coaching contributions to both the June Buchanan School and Alice Lloyd College. He coached the Lady Eagles for five seasons before agreeing to lead the first team in JBS history. He had a very successful run there before taking over the helm of the ALC Eagles in 2001. He coached there for seven seasons. Over his 27 year career, he amassed nearly 400 total coaching victories. He currently is an Instructor of Education at Alice Lloyd.John Mills played basketball for the Eagles from 1978 thru 1981.As a player, he led the team in rebounding, field goal percentage, and free throw percentage for both seasons he participated, and helped lead them to the National Little College Tournament. He coached the ALC Lady Eagles from 1990-1996 and won 116 games over that span. His 1996 club won a ladies record 27 games. He later coached the men’s team for two seasons. He served as men’s coach at Berea College for the past 8 years and led them to two NAIA National Tournament appearances. He just returned to Alice Lloyd to serve as the Dean of Men and women’s basketball and softball coach.{nl}{nl}
